Where are you located?

We are located east of the Remarkables Park Town Centre and west of the Ramada Hotel in Frankton, Queenstown. Go past the Remarkables Park Town Centre and continue on Hawthorne Drive. Turn right onto Cherry Blossom, then left onto Golden Elm Lane. You will see the blue sign “Hawthorne Drive Car Park” Public Parking. The entrance is on the right and left hand side of Golden Elm Lane.

How far away from the Queenstown airport are you?

The Hawthorne Drive Carpark is a 15 minute walk (at an average pace) to the airport (1.2km). If time permits, you can park at the Queenstown airport car park for free for the first 10 minutes. That way you can check-in and drop your luggage, and any passengers, prior to parking with us.
Otherwise you can use Queenstown Taxis, 0800 788 294, Green Cabs 0800 76 76 73 or Uber. Just say you are at the Airport Parking Remarkables Park.

How can I pay for my parking?

We don’t require online pre-payment prior to your parking. You must register your car (via your Registration number) at the Pay Station on arrival and pay for the period of parking you have selected. You won’t receive a paper ticket as our machines are all paper free. The maximum booking period is 42 days. Mastercard and Visa (credit and debit cards) are the only payment methods accepted. Our machines are paperless and therefore no printed ticket will be issued. However, you can get a GST receipt by following the prompts on the Pay Station machine and you will be able to access this online. View Rates here.

How long can I stay in the car park for?

The Pay Stations will accept payment for up to 42 days (6 weeks), however our office staff can assist for bookings longer than six weeks. We can also assist with extending your parking period. Both of these services are only available between our office hours of Monday – Friday 9am until 5pm. Email info@airportparkingqueenstown.co.nz

What will I be charged for parking?

The Pay Station will calculate the number of days you have entered and you will need to pay via credit or debit card for this time period. Each day is a 24 hour period (ie. Paying at 11:32am means you are valid to park till 11:32am on your day of return). Mastercard and Visa (credit and debit cards) are the only payment methods accepted. View Rates here.

What period/time frame are your Parking rates based on?

Each day is based on a 24 hour period.
Paying at 11.32am means you are valid to park till 11.32am on your day of return.
Important to Note: If you aren’t arriving back to your vehicle till after 11.32am i.e. your flight doesn’t arrive back to Queenstown till 3.15pm (for this example) your vehicle will be considered as invalid to park for almost a four hour period.
Our Pay Stations don’t allow hourly rates to be purchased from 11.32am to say 4pm (for this example) to avoid a potential infringement notice ($65) you are best to purchase an extra day ($8 or $6) to ensure you are covered until you arrive back to your vehicle.

I am returning later than the period I paid for at the Pay Station, can I extend my stay?

Yes, Please contact our team before your parking period expires during our office hours, Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm or via email info@airportparkingqueenstown.co.nz. Please quote your rego plate number.

Do I receive a ticket to display on my car from the pay station?

No, our machines are paperless. However, you can get a GST receipt by following the prompts on the Pay Station machine and you will be able to access this online.

What are your hours?

You can access our car park and your car 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The enforcement company is available from 8.30am until 5pm. For general enquiries our office hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

Are there any restrictions on the type of vehicle that can use your car parks?

The car parking is strictly for cars/SUV’s up to a size of 12 seater van or a campervan. Maximum length six (6) metres. If you do wish to park a Bus/Coach or larger vehicle more than six metres, please get in contact with our office as we do have space available in an alternative location. Do you have a shuttle service?

No. Why? It’s only a 1.2km flat walk from the Hawthorne Drive Carpark to the Queenstown Airport, call it a healthy option!

Can I catch a public bus to the Queenstown airport from the carpark?

Yes, there is public transport available from Red Oaks Drive and from Remarkables Park Town Centre – you will be catching the ‘Remarkables Shops to Sunshine Bay’ route. View map of bus stops.

Is there a taxi service from the car park to the Queenstown airport?

Yes, you can use Queenstown Taxis, 0800 788 294, Green Cabs 0800 76 76 73 or Uber. Just say you are at the Airport Parking Remarkables Park.

I have luggage, do I drop it at the terminal first?

If time permits, you can park at the Queenstown airport car park free for the first 10 minutes. That way you can check-in and drop your luggage, and any passengers, prior to parking with us. Then maybe it’s time for a game of paper, scissors, rock to see who gets to park the car in the Hawthorne car park and enjoy the 15 minute walk back to Queenstown Airport.

Is there somewhere to park a bus?

No, our parking spaces have a standard size and won’t take vehicles larger than a 12-seater van or a Campervan. No longer than 6 metres please.

Do I need to check-in at your premises?

Yes. Once you have self-parked in the designated parking lot you must register your car at the pay station and pay.

Can I book and pay online for my parking?

No, however our office staff can assist for bookings longer than six (6) weeks as our Pay Stations only except a time period up to 42 days (6 weeks) This service is only on offer between our office hours of Monday – Friday 9am until 5pm. Email info@airportparkingqueenstown.co.nz

Can I park here even though I’m not using the airport?

Yes, short or long-term parking is permitted regardless of whether you are parking to fly or going shopping or staying at one of the hotels in the area.

Are there any areas I can’t park in?

Yes, you must park in one of the available 420 formed carparks within the Hawthorne Drive Carpark as indicated on the map.

Do I keep my car keys?

Yes, you keep your car keys with you on your journey.

Do I need special insurance cover while my vehicle is parked on your premises?

Please refer to your own policy. We do not insure customers’ vehicles.

Is the car off-road?

Yes, we are on private property. Some of the public roads surrounding the airport now have a 48 hour parking restriction in place.

Why did I get a ticket while I parked at your parking?

To use our car park, you must pay for the period you wish to park for at the Pay Station before you leave. If you have registered your car and paid at the Pay Station and still received a ticket, please contact the Enforcement Company on 0800 727 536.
